Careers Programme

My Future Me

Our Careers Programme is designed to provide every student with the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to make informed decisions about their future. Rooted in the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance, the programme offers a structured, coherent, and high‑quality approach to careers education. It supports students in understanding the world of work, exploring future pathways, and building the confidence required to thrive beyond school.

We recognise that both the labour market and the needs of our learners are constantly evolving. For this reason, our Careers Programme is dynamic and responsive, reviewed annually and adapted throughout the year. By working closely with employers, further and higher education providers, parents, and the wider community, we ensure that our offer remains relevant, inclusive, and ambitious for all students.

Our Careers Programme is built around the eight Gatsby Benchmarks:

  1. A Stable Careers Programme
We deliver a clearly planned, well‑resourced, and consistently implemented programme that all stakeholders can access and understand. Regular evaluations ensure the programme continues to meet student needs.
  2. Learning from Career and Labour Market Information
Students and families receive up‑to‑date, impartial labour market and careers information, helping them make informed choices about qualifications and pathways.
  3. Addressing the Needs of Each Student
Our programme is inclusive and personalised, recognising that students have diverse starting points, aspirations, and support needs.
  4. Linking Curriculum Learning to Careers
Subject areas explicitly connect learning to future careers, helping students understand the relevance of curriculum content to real-world opportunities.
  5. Encounters with Employers and Employees
Students engage with local and national employers through talks, workshops, mentoring, enterprise activities, and workplace encounters.
  6. Experiences of Workplaces
We provide meaningful experiences of the workplace, enabling students to gain insight into working environments and expectations.
  7. Encounters with Further and Higher Education
Students have opportunities to explore the full range of academic, vocational, and technical routes through visits, workshops, and interactions with a wide range of providers.
  8. Personal Guidance
All students have access to one‑to‑one careers guidance delivered by a qualified careers professional at key transition points.
