Sixth Form Admissions

Sixth Form Applications

If you are currently in Year 11 and your date of birth falls between 01.09.2009 and 31.08.2010, and you are not currently a Newstead Wood student, please click the button below to register for an Applicaa account and complete your application.  We encourage students to do this themselves rather than relying on parents to complete their application.

Notes:

  • Please enter a personal email address on your application – do not enter your school email address.
  • Before submitting your application, please contact your school office to request your UPN and ULN numbers, as these need to be entered on your application.  (If you have only ever been educated in independent schools then you may not have these.)
  • Finally, you will be asked to upload a full, clear copy of your predicted grades.  This needs to show your full name and the predicted grades for every subject that you currently study.  We will not accept cropped or handwritten documents.  If your school does not provide predicted grades, please upload a copy of your most recent Year 11 school report showing your grades for all GCSE subjects being studied.

The minimum qualification for entry into Year 12 (the entry requirements) is a minimum of 4 Grade 6s and 4 Grade 7s taken from at least 8 GCSEs completed in one sitting, and:

  • Grade 7 or higher in subjects to be followed to Advanced Level (or related subjects) please see our full admissions criteria here.
  • At least a Grade 6 in English and Mathematics
  • Grades at 4 or lower will not be counted

All students in the current Year 11 at Newstead Wood School who meet the entry requirements and their course requirements will automatically obtain a place.

824 applications were received for entry in 2023.

910 applications were received for entry in September 2024.

1,052 applications were received for entry in September 2025.

In the event of oversubscription from external candidates places will be offered to students who meet the entry criteria in the order set out in our Admissions Policy and subject to maximum set sizes not being exceeded in individual subjects. It is important to note that the school may not be able to offer places to all external applicants who meet the minimum entry criteria. A waiting list will be compiled and maintained until the end of September 2025.

PLEASE NOTE:

Applicants must have the legal right to be resident in the United Kingdom at the start of and for the duration of their A-Level programme.

Full GCSEs are the only qualifications considered for Entry to Sixth Form. Qualifications taken in addition to GCSEs (e.g. Free Standing Maths; AQA Certificate in Further Maths; RS Short Course) are not taken into account for the minimum qualification criteria for entry into Year 12.
