~ Nearly half (49%) of all entries achieved the top grade 9 ~
Following last week’s excellent A Level results, there were celebrations once again at Newstead Wood School as students received their GCSE results.
Nearly half (49%) of all entries achieved the top grade 9 and 79% achieved a grade 8 or above. 97% of students achieved a grade 7 or above in both English and maths. This year’s maths results were particularly impressive with more than half of students (53%) achieving grade 9.
30% of students achieved 8 or more grade 9s.
These GCSE results build on last week’s strong A Level results when over a third (35%) of entries achieving the top A* grade and 30% achieving A grades.
Commenting on students’ achievements, Alan Blount, Head Teacher at Newstead Wood School, said:
“These are an excellent set of results and I congratulate all our students on their achievements. Despite the disruption of the past two years, students have remained focused and continued to work hard and today’s results are testament to this. Thank you to all the staff for their dedication and for supporting our students to achieve these superb results. I look forward to welcoming our students to our Sixth Form which, as last week’s results showed, continues to go from strength to strength’.
